The Easy Way to Get the DM32-UV to connect with CPS software

  1. Have VFO A on an analog frequency or memory. NOT a DMR frequency
  2. Have the volume knob set to 50%
  3. Do NOT have the radio on a charger or plugged into a USB. It’s got RFI that seems to interfere with the serial connection.
  4. Use 115200 Baud on the COM port
  5. Select your COM port in the CPS settings
  6. The radio does NOT like higher COM ports. 1-4 is safe. I tried 10 and it wouldn’t read.
  7. Go to Program(P) then “Read data”
  8. Select the “Digital Contacts” radio box (shown as “?????” in CPS 1.45) and then click the left button which is “Read” (in CPS 1.45 just shows as “??”)
  9. There is a progress bar and it should show the reading progress. A pop-up will appear when the reading of the radio is complete.
  10. Save your codeplug before modifying it so you can revert back to a vanilla codeplug

NOTE: To access the “Embedded Information” (MARS mod, freq unlock, region changing) the passcode is 374612

To write to the Radio:

  1. Save the codeplug
  2. Select Write from the Program(P) menu
  3. Check the ???? radio box if you want to upload your digital contacts
  4. Click the left button labeled ?? in CPS 1.45
  5. A progress bar will move from 0 to 100%
  6. A pop-up window will appear when done and you can close it
  7. The radio will reboot
  8. You can unplug the programming cable now
  9. I usually turn the radio off and back on but you don’t have to

And that’s it. Pretty simple, but also confusing.
